Miranda Writes by Gail Ward Olmsted #BookReview #BlackRoseWriting #5*

A disgraced attorney seeking redemption. A single mother desperate to regain custody of her son. Two women willing to risk it all to put a sexual predator behind bars.

Former Assistant District Attorney Miranda Quinn is on the brink of a career comeback when she gets a phone call. It’s a witness who disappeared three years earlier, resulting in a violent criminal going free. Miranda got fired as a result, but the witness has re-surfaced with a shocking story to tell; one that implicates Miranda and her ex, defense attorney Adam Baxter. And now, there’s a new victim.

Miranda’s legal advice blog-turned-podcast Miranda Writes is about to become a daytime TV show, but the negative press could destroy her credibility. Will the network stand behind her?

When it comes to the law, Miranda has all the answers, but the questions are getting harder and the stakes are getting higher. The dangerous web of lies and cover-ups she exposes leaves her questioning just how much she is willing to risk. She has the right to remain silent, but needs to speak up… doesn’t she?

Miranda Writes is a story of how far we’ll go to protect those we love and the power of second chances.

Terrifically Engaging!

Everything you could want in a book: terrific characters, a gripping story and a touch of humour!

Miranda Quinn, former District Attorney, left office four years ago. Since then, she has carved out a niche for herself with her blog-turned-podcast and it has culminated in a fabulous opportunity to take her new career a step further with her own tv show. Then, just when everything is going right for her, a witness who disappeared prior to giving evidence in her last case pops up, with a truly awful tale to tell. That’s the case which caused Miranda to lose her job, so the chance to put things right is just too good to pass up – but is she risking her new career to save her reputation at her old one?

Having read this author’s work before, I was delighted to be given the opportunity to read and review her new novel – and I’m so glad I did. In my opinion, this is her best work yet – and I shall be keeping an eye out for her future endeavours. Miranda is a fabulous, realistic character and life is in no way golden for her; she has worked really hard at both of her careers. When the past catches up with her, she risks rocking the boat by getting involved again – but who among us wouldn’t grab the chance, with both hands, to clear our name? With mystery, suspense and a sprinkling of humour throughout, I adored this one and was very sorry when I reached the end. I can see myself re-reading this in future – it’s THAT enjoyable. I definitely recommend Miranda Writes and am very happy to give it all five glowing stars!

My thanks to the author for my copy of her novel; this is – as always – my honest, original and unbiased review.

A family trip to Sedona, AZ prompted me to start writing JEEP TOUR, my first novel. I fell in love with the red rocks and blue skies. My second novel is Guessing at Normal, a rock and roll love story. Driving on the Left, a romantic sequel of sorts to JEEP TOUR is based in Ireland.  Second Guessing, a contemporary romance,  follows Jill’s story from Guessing at Normal.

Landscape of a Marriage is historical fiction: the lives of park builder Frederick Law Olmsted and his late brother’s widow Mary. My latest book is Miranda Writes, a contemporary novel with a legal twist. Watch for it 9/8/22!

A hopeless romantic, I am married to the love of my life, mom to two young adults and I enjoy reading, music and travel.
