Lena Farnham seems to have it all; a wonderful job – which she loves, a gorgeous home – large enough to never want to move and an attentive husband with whom she is expecting their first child. Then she gains a stalker and suddenly life isn’t so good; she’s frightened and husband Sean doesn’t seem to appreciate how badly it’s affecting her. But it’ll all be okay once the baby arrives . . . won’t it?
This is the second novel I’ve read by Ruth O’Neill and, whilst I enjoyed the first one, I have to say that it’s noticeable how the author’s writing is maturing. This is a thrilling read! To begin with, I thought that everything was, perhaps, just too obvious but the secrets of this story are hidden in layers and revealed bit by bit. A riveting read – and one where I couldn’t have worked out where it was going. Exciting and unpredictable, this is both cleverly crafted and wonderfully written, and a novel which will keep you reading until the very last. Definitely an author to keep an eye on, and a book I’m both happy to recommend and give 4.5*.
