Ten Years Gone by Jonathan Dunsky #BookReview #AdamLapid1 #LionCubPublishing #5*

On the dusty streets of post-war Tel Aviv, a crafty killer roams free…

Israel, 1949 – Private detective Adam Lapid knows how it feels to lose everything. His whole family died in Auschwitz. He barely survived. Now he spends his nights haunted by nightmares and his days solving cases the police won’t handle.

Hired to find a missing boy, Adam thinks the case is hopeless. But he can’t turn down a mother searching for her only child.

What Adam doesn’t realize is that this case will soon put him in mortal danger. For at the root of the mystery lies a double murder that has stayed unsolved for ten long years.

Adam must untangle a web of lies and betrayal to get to the truth.

And he’d better watch his back because some of the suspects are willing to kill to keep their dark secrets buried.

Interesting & Intriguing!

Adam Lapid survived the second world war; he was one of those rescued from Auschwitz. His dreams are haunted as his wife and children died there. Night terrors don’t stop him from working as a private investigator in Tel Aviv, where he is settled. When a woman approaches him to find her missing child, Adam thinks it is hopeless but doesn’t have the heart to tell her that without at least looking into things. What he finds is more than he bargained for, and puts his life in danger, but Adam isn’t a man who gives up.

I was recently asked to review another post-war series and I have to say it piqued my interest in this period. While this is the first in this series, I know that I’m going to continue reading – I really like Adam Lapid and his methods. This is a gripping – and heartbreaking – case; I could not have predicted where it was heading but it kept me glued to the pages all the way through. I imagine this is a fairly realistic portrayal of the period and those who survived, and it was with great satisfaction that I reached the end. Highly recommended and one I’m compelled to give all five glowing stars.

My thanks to the author for bringing his work to my attention; I downloaded this novel via Kindle Unlimited. This is – as always – my honest, original and unbiased review.
