January 2022

Here we are at the end of the first month of 2022 and I sincerely hope it’s been better in your home that it has been in ours – it’s been on long round of illness. I just got rid of one chest infection and I’ve been dealt another and this one seems to come with fringe ‘benefits’ which, really, you do not want to know about – but at least I’m Covid-free!

I seem to have fallen at the first hurdle of cutting my list with twenty-two books read and reviewed this month and, looking over them I realise that I have given a fair few five stars; but then, you see, I am a reviewer, not a critic and I look for the good in each and every book I read. There are times, of course, when I just have to mention the need of an edit but for the most part I’m there to enjoy the story! I finally got around to reading To Kill A Mockingbird which was just a joy in every way – I can see why it’s still a best seller and hope to read the follow-up, Go Set A Watchman, before the year is out.

It is never easy to choose just one novel as the outstanding read each month, but reading over my reviews I quickly remember the feelings each evoked and this month I couldn’t look past All for You by Louise Jensen; a book which kept it’s secrets to the very last and held me spellbound throughout so I’m delighted to make it my January Book of the Month!

I truly hope that February is better for all of us. Having managed to complete my first ‘Wasgij’ I have three more waiting in the wings and just hope to feel up to opening at least one of the boxes! Sending positive health vibes to everyone,
