DETECTIVE SIV DRUMMOND IS BACK IN THIS GRIPPING NEW MURDER MYSTERY YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO PUT DOWN.
A dead body at the local crematorium. Nothing unusual about that . . .
Except this one, found under some flower wreaths on the steps of the chapel, wasn’t meant to be there.
Detective Siv Drummond and her team are on the case.
But the only person who knew the victim goes missing that same day.
The single clue they find is the dead man’s car containing a holiday brochure and a cryptic message:
Remember fun at Mallow Cottage.
What lethal secret lies hidden between the lines? Can Siv piece it all together before the killer strikes again?
Perfect for fans of Joy Ellis, Jane Adams, Tana French, Liane Moriarty, Ruth Rendell or Rachel Caine.
MEET THE DETECTIVE
Detective Inspector Siv Drummond is widowed following a tragic accident involving her husband. With everything in London reminding her of the past, she moves from a high-profile squad with the Met to a new job as DI in her old hometown — sleepy, seaside Berminster. She’s still grieving and lonely, but she’s a fighter and she’s smart, which earns her the respect of her colleagues DS Ali Carlin and DC Patrick Hill, and the grudging approval of her DCI, who wants his protégé to get her job.

Cleverly Plotted, Gripping Mystery!
A gripping, suspenseful read with plenty going on!
When a body turns up at the local crematorium, it’s a little different from usual; laid out on the steps and covered in flower wreaths, this one did not come via the usual channels. Detective Inspector Siv Drummond and her team roll their sleeves and but before they get too far with their latest case, a friend of the deceased goes missing. The only clue they have to work on is the deceased’s car with a brochure for a local holiday cottage and a cryptic message. How does it all fit together?
It’s never easy to come to a series a couple of books in and I must admit I struggled a bit with getting to know the team on this one, but before long I was completely engrossed in the crime investigation and they all just slipped into place. By the end I was rather fond of Siv and her colleagues! Add in some office politics and the pressure is on. The mystery is beautifully plotted and written and kept me gripped all the way through, but I have to hold my hands up and say I didn’t solve it until it was in front of me in black and white. Thrilling and riveting, definitely a series to follow and one I’m happy to give 4.5*.
My thanks to the publisher for my copy; this is – as always – my honest, original and unbiased review.
