A Decent Read, Lacking Excitement! 
I’m not sure I would describe this as a thriller, but it is a good read in it’s own way.
Bea Hughes receives an unexpected call one afternoon; the message scares her and to make matters worse, someone else lifted another extension phone and heard it too. But who? She thought what happened in the past was forgotten, but this is a clear sign that someone else knows what she did. So what happens now? And what about her family?
This is a decent tale, but not as exciting as I thought it was going to be. I would describe it as more of a family drama; for me it lacks the heart-pounding excitement which I expect from a thriller. However, if I hadn’t read the blurb I would have enjoyed it more for what it is – a well-written, easy tale of family life and how our past catches up with us. I particularly like that it was all brought together by the end of the book with no loose ends left dangling. However, I did find how things turned out to be just a little far fetched. I suspect the author aimed for a good ending and just took things a step too far to be readily believable. Perhaps, due to reading so many first class thrillers, my expectations are just a bit high? Either way, I wouldn’t discount reading this author’s work again although I don’t think I will follow this series. For me, this scores three stars.
