Following both an established marriage and a wannabee romance, this is just that bit different.
Ellie can’t stop thinking about Logan; they work for the same company, but on separate floors of the same building. Her best friend and co-worker Laura is full of advice, but Ellie’s not sure her ideas are sound so writes to an advice columnist. Fliss is the chosen agony aunt and, in replying to Ellie’s email she gets carried away and continues on to lay out her concerns about her own marriage but she’s a professional and would never send such a missive. Or would she? Accidents do happen, after all . . .
This is a refreshing take on fun and romance; and following both women and their dilemmas has been quite enjoyable. It’s the perfect example of the so-called ‘experts’ not knowing it all! The characters are well-drawn and perfectly believable – especially Laura – and both story lines make perfect sense. For me, I have a preference in Fliss’s tale, finding events between Ellie and Logan got just that little bit silly and dragged out a bit – but that’s only my opinion. I’m sure plenty of others will love everything about this novel, and it’ll certainly make an ideal light read. I’m happy to settle on 3.5 stars this time.
