I really shouldn’t complain about the weather but it’s part of the British way of life, isn’t it? However, I’m so very grateful not to be in a flooded area that I can take anything the skies throw at me – and this month we have had rain, hail, snow, thunderstorms and high winds. I feel so very sorry for all those faced with being out of their homes and losing most of their possessions, and daily they seem to be suffering even more, poor souls.

It has, however, been the perfect reading month; I have snuggled up with my kindle and lost myself in many fictional worlds. Again, my planned total of twenty has been exceeded – by four more this time. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good read!

As always, I’ve had a re-read of all the reviews I gave five stars to, and carefully considered which one stood out most for me. This month I have chosen Hilary Boyd’s The Lie. I absolutely loved her previous novel, Thursdays in the Park, and was rather doubtful that she could follow it up with another as good, but this new one has surpassed it – and then some! Well deserving the title of Book of the Month, it is a stunning insight into a thirty year old marriage and a first-class read!

Looking forward to March I have another score of books lined up (so far!). Garden-wise we have a couple of brave crocuses which have popped through the frozen soil, but the rest are holding back; quite possibly, like me, they’re waiting for a bit of sunshine and warmth! Let us all hope we get that soon.
